Seymour Papert cofounded the MIT media lab and was a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence, but his lifelong interest has been on education, and especially on the role computers can play in making education more effective. Sixteen years ago (!) he wrote an article on games in education that embodies more wisdom on the topic than almost anything that has been written since. Here’s a link to it.

  1. Thought-provoking! As it evolves further, would be interesting to see how this methodology (GBT, games-based training if you will) can embrace various demographics. Or how various demographics/ age groups embrace it. That is: will it prove as user-friendly or impactful for a 40 something middle manager as it will for a newbie on the restaurant floor (the latter we know will take to it like fish to water).

  2. I decided to leave a message here on your Seymour Papert on games in education – Future of Training page instead of calling you. Do you need more likes for your Facebook Fan Page? The more people that LIKE your website and fanpage on Facebook, the more credibility you will have with new visitors. It works the same for Twitter, Instagram and Youtube. When people visit your page and see that you have a lot of followers, they now want to follow you too. They too want to know what all the hype is and why all those people are following you.
